In the final days of the summer of 2017, a passionate coach moved to Seattle with one thing on his mind: to bring the game of Catchball to his new hometown.
Within less than two months, two new Catchball teams were formed: first Shehawks, and MamaMia a few weeks later.
The rivalry between the two teams was born shortly after and helped fuel the continuous development of both, as well as more local growth. The third team was born several months later and the foundations to what is now one of the biggest and best Catchball leagues outside of the game's origin country, were laid.
Since then, the SeattleNet Catchball community tripled in size and today includes not only well over 100 local players, but also coaches, referees and many local supporters.
The bond between the Seattle Catchball community and the USACA has been firm since day one.
Seattle teams have been attending the USACA annual tournaments, as well as other major events, since March of 2018, and have been reaping many achievements in these events over the last few years. In 2023 and 2024, Seattle based teams dominated the annual tournaments in almost every possible aspect, in the process helping set higher standards for the game in the US. It was also some of SeattleNet's most prominent members that helped shape the USACA's board of directors and its roles over the years, and the league still has several USACA board members currently serving.
With 8 competitive teams, each with its unique characteristics and blend of powerful women, Seattle is considered one of best places in America to learn and play the game. It is still, after years of continued growth, developing and expanding every year, with new initiatives and exciting opportunities for every woman.
Seattle also hosts its own annual tournament every fall, that the USACA is proud to support and help coordinate.
